Biography
Dennis is a software engineer and project leader and has experience in development for research projects as well as commercial product development. In addition to his roles as Aerial Robotics team leader and project leader, Dennis conducts software development for the CSIRO unmanned helicopter platform.
Dennis first joined the CSIRO in 2001 as a junior software engineer in the airborne gravity gradiometer project in the division of exploration and mining. Developing real time software for Linux and QNX he also worked on the borehole strainmeter project before leaving the CSIRO at the end of 2004 to relocate to the United Kingdom.
After working as a consulting engineer developing industrial and consumer products in the United kingdom for almost 4 years Dennis returned to the CSIRO in late 2008, joining the CSIRO ICT centre as a senior software engineer. He soon after became the team leader of the Aerial Robotics team and lead the CSIRO team on the Smart Skies project, a 3 year collaborative research program with QUT and Boeing Research and Technology Australia.
