Biography
Kerry holds a PhD in Biological Chemistry from the University of Michigan, a BA in Biochemistry from Ithaca College, and is a registered U.S. Patent Agent.
Prior to moving to Australia, Kerry worked for several years at the Seattle law firm Davis Wright Tremaine, LLP, where she drafted and prosecuted patent applications related to chemistry, biotechnology, and medical devices. In 2006, she moved to Canberra to work at CAMBIA, a non-profit organisation involved with open-access innovation and patent policy. At CAMBIA, she developed patent sequence-based landscapes for the rice and influenza genomes.
Kerry joined CSIRO in July 2008, and is responsible for developing and managing the IP produced by the scientists of the ICT Centre.
Although she has a background in biotechnology, Kerry is intrinsically interested in science as a whole, particularly how science and creativity can be used to address the many challenges that face the world today.
