Biography

In 1980, I started work as a Fitter and Turner and completed a 4 year Apprenticeship with Tully Sugar Limited (Far North Queensland). To gain experience in the trade I moved to several different industries over the next 10 years. Some of these included: Power industry, Steel industry, Agriculture/ Mobile plant, Marine industry and Mining. In 1989 I started another apprenticeship as an Electronics Technician working for a Brisbane company providing specialist automation and audio technology to the Cinema industry. From there I branched into the consumer electronics repair industry (CTV, VCR, HI-Fi, Professional Audio and PA equipment, Industrial Electronics, etc) which led to the start up of my own repair and service business in Tully (Brosnan's Electronics est. 1993). Since taking on the role of Technical Officer (CSIRO- 2001) my past work experience and unique skill-set has been instrumental in the timely delivery of many projects including: Springbrook rainforest Sensor network, Dragline Swing Assist. DTM1 and DTM2, Helicopter, AVS and Excavator.

I am currently employed in the Autonomous Systems Lab and my primary tasks are: To design PCB's, and to design/ install/ commission/ and repair hardware systems for the groups activities.

I am currently responsible for managing: PCB Design, Electronics Lab and infrastructure, Contract Manufacturing and Outsourcing, Field Service Trips to remote locations.
